This month, we are proud to present you with Kevin Horgan:
Kevin Horgan is a multifaceted individual whose journey spans various elements of service, education, and advocacy. Graduating with a BA in English from St. Bonaventure University in 1979, he embarked on a laudable five-year tenure in the US Marine Corps infantry, rising to the rank of Captain. Despite not encountering combat situations, he holds his time as a Marine officer in the highest regard, calling it “the great privilege of my life.”
Kevin’s pursuit of knowledge led him to earn a JD from Seton Hall University School of Law in 1988. His professional trajectory is a testament to his determination and work ethic, commencing work at UPS by loading trucks while simultaneously attending night law school in 1984. Over a remarkable 33-year career at UPS, he delved into various roles, predominantly managing operations and industrial engineering groups across the nation. His final seven years were dedicated to serving as a contract administrator in corporate Real Estate.
With memberships in the New Jersey and District of Columbia bar associations, Kevin retired in February 2017, marking the transition to his active involvement in mentorship roles with ACP and Hire Heroes USA. He contributes to numerous organizations, including the American Legion, Knights of Columbus, and previously held positions such as Vice President and board member of the CAC of Sandy Springs/Dunwoody.
Beyond his professional commitments, Kevin is an accomplished author, blogger, and podcaster, utilizing platforms like VETS-TALK and being an early member of VETLANTA, where he currently serves on its board as an At-Large member. He has authored four books and co-authored a fifth. Kevin’s online presence reflects his diverse interests, with websites dedicated to his books, podcasts, and professional endeavors.
His son, Dan, served as an F18E pilot, Top Gun Instructor, and US Navy Lieutenant Commander. Kevin reveres Dan as his hero. Kevin and his wife, Maureen, have four children and seven grandchildren.
