DESCRIPTION:Please join us for a special presentation from the Cultural Forces Military Band\, on a special tour across the nation. This event is brought to you by With Honor  and ATLVets and sponsored by The Howard G. Buffett Foundation. \n\n\n\n\n\nHighlight video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dkjq0pRkLkU\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWith Honor fights polarization in Congress through principled veteran leadership. The organization has partnered with the Howard Buffett Foundation to host a national tour of Cultural Forces\, Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers who are world-class professional musicians. Some of the musicians were grievously wounded in combat on the frontlines of the war. Cultural Forces is on a cultural diplomacy mission to the United States to thank the American people for all support provided to Ukraine during the war.  \n\n\n\nWith Honor recently helped arranged performances on Capitol Hill for the U.S. Congress\, the largest public high school in North Carolina\, universities\, and the United Nations General Assembly in order to raise awareness about the Ukrainian fight for freedom\, democracy\, and the importance of bipartisan support in America for the war effort.  \n\n\n\nThe group is composed of two bandura players\, an opera singer\, a violinist\, a pianist\, a country singer\, and a poet who was one of Ukraine’s biggest celebrities before the war\, when he volunteered for the frontlines. Performances include renditions of a wide variety of music\, from Ukrainian and world classics to covers of popular hits and country tunes. It also features the traditional Ukrainian string instrument\, the bandura. This month we are featuring Gabriel Soltero – Program Manager\, Military Hiring at The Home Depot \n\n\n\nOriginally from San Juan\, Puerto Rico\, Gabe began a 25-year military career after graduating from Rice University in Houston\, TX. He trained as a Navy pilot\, completed several overseas deployments\, and served as the Commanding Officer of helicopter squadrons in San Diego and Guam.  Gabe finished his military career as Director of the Naval International Staff College in Newport\, RI. \n\n\n\nFollowing his retirement from the Navy Gabe moved with his family to Atlanta\, where he volunteered with veteran organizations to assist other service members navigating their own career transition from the military.  After a short stint in the International Development sector he joined the U.S. Department of Labor Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (VETS)\, and in 2022 he accepted his current position with The Home Depot as Program Manager for Military Hiring.  In this role Gabe oversees fellowship programs for transitioning service members and military spouses\, as well as direct hiring opportunities for all members of the military community. \n\n\n \nThis exclusive gathering brings together individuals from diverse backgrounds\, with a special emphasis on honoring and engaging with veterans from our local community. As part of our commitment to fostering camaraderie and building connections\, each event features a thrilling round of military trivia. This month we are featuring Jackie Breitenstein\, MS\, CTRS\, CCM Program Manager for the SHARE Program at Shepherd Center: \n\n\n\nJackie has over 20 years of experience in therapeutic recreation\, case management and program development. As Program Manager at Shepherd Center\, a leading rehabilitation hospital for people with spinal cord and brain injuries\, she oversees the Complex Concussion Clinic and SHARE Military Initiative.  The Complex Concussion Clinic provides comprehensive assessment and treatment for civilian patients with persistent post-concussion symptoms following a concussion. SHARE offers specialized rehabilitation and community reintegration services for veterans\, service members and first responders with mild to moderate brain injury at no out-of-pocket cost. She received her Master’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill\, and is a Certified Clinical Case Manager and a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist. She has collaborated with various stakeholders and partners to advocate for the needs and rights of this population. Jackie is also a Special Government Employee\, serving as an appointed member of the Veterans’ Advisory Committee on Rehabilitation (VACOR). \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \nThis exclusive gathering brings together individuals from diverse backgrounds\, with a special emphasis on honoring and engaging with veterans from our local community. Among his many commands were four years as the 16th Supreme Allied Commander at NATO\, where he oversaw operations in Afghanistan\, Libya\, Syria\, the Balkans\, and counter piracy off the coast of Africa. He also commanded US Southern Command in Miami\, charged with military operations through Latin America for nearly three years. He was the longest serving Combatant Commander in recent US history. Following his military career\, he served for five years as the 12th Dean of The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. \nIn the course of his career in the Navy\, he served as senior military assistant to the Secretary of the Navy and the Secretary of Defense. He led the Navy’s premier operational think tank for innovation\, Deep Blue\, immediately after the 9/11 attacks. Admiral Stavridis was promoted directly from 1-star rank to 3-star rank in 2004. \nHis books have sold over 500\,000 copies worldwide and have been published in more than twenty different languages. An active user of social networks\, he has tens of thousands of connections on the social networks. His TED talk on 21st century security in 2012 has had over one million views. He tweeted the end of combat operations in the Libyan NATO intervention. His memoir of the NATO years\, “The Accidental Admiral\,” was released in October 2014\, and he had two books out in 2017: “The Leader’s Bookshelf: 50 Books That Make Us Better Leaders” in March and “Sea Power: The History and Geopolitics of the Oceans” in June. His tenth book\, and first novel\, “2034: A Novel of the Next World War” (co-written with Elliot Ackerman) was published on March 9\, 2021 and debuted as #6 on the New York Times fiction bestseller list. “The Sailor’s Bookshelf: Fifty Books to Know the Sea” was published in November 2021. “To Risk It All: Nine Conflicts and the Crucible of Decision” was published in May 2022. \nHe is currently Partner and Vice Chairman\, Global Affairs of The Carlyle Group\, a global investment firm and is Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Rockefeller Foundation. \nAdmiral Stavridis is Chair Emeritus of the Board of the US Naval Institute\, the professional association of the Nation’s sea services: Navy\, Marine Corps\, Coast Guard\, and Merchant Marine.
