SUMMARY:Advancing The Line - Atlanta - Senator Kenya Wicks
DESCRIPTION:Join us for another great event!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin ATLVets for an evening of candid conversation and high-value networking with retired U.S. Army Major\, community leader\, and lifelong public servant Kenya Wicks. \n\n\n\nOver a 30-year military career\, Kenya Wicks rose from enlisted soldier to commissioned officer — a testament to the kind of leadership\, resilience\, and commitment that doesn’t come from a title\, but from showing up every day for three decades. A Louisville\, Kentucky native and graduate of the University of Alabama\, she built a career defined by service to her country and her people. \n\n\n\nBut her story isn’t one of a career that ended at separation. It’s one of service that simply changed form. In her civilian life\, Major Wicks has poured that same discipline into her community — advocating for children in foster care as a Court-Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) in Clayton County\, serving fellow veterans through the board of the Eden Project\, and mentoring the next generation of leaders. \n\n\n\nFor our veteran community moving into new arenas of leadership\, Major Wicks is living proof of a simple truth: the mission doesn’t end when the uniform comes off. It just finds new ground. \n\n\n\nWhat to expect: \n\n\n\n\nA fireside-style conversation on leadership\, resilience\, and lifelong service\n\n\n\nPractical insight on carrying military discipline into civilian impact\n\n\n\nPremium networking with Atlanta’s veteran and business leaders\n\n\n\nDrinks and connection\n\n\n\n\nSeating is limited. Reserve your spot today and advance the line with us. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n🚨 Spots are limited!RSVP today and be part of a transformative evening that moves the needle in your life and work. \n\n\nOur Agenda: \n6:00 – 6:30 pm: Open Networking and Host comments \n6:45 pm- 7:30 pm:  Speaker highlight & fireside chat \n7:30 pm – 8:00 pm: Q & A and Open Networking \n**Business Casual Attire Required** \n\n\n\nOur Featured Speaker: Kenya Wicks\n\n\n\n\n\nKenya Wicks is a retired U.S. Army Major\, dedicated public servant\, and tireless community advocate. Over the course of a 30-year military career\, she rose from enlisted Soldier to Officer\, earning a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from the University of Alabama. Her service was defined by leadership\, resilience\, and a deep commitment to the country.\n\n\n\nA Louisville\, Kentucky native\, Major Wicks has continued to champion community and public service in her civilian career — advocating for children in foster care as a Court-Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) in Clayton County and serving on the board of the Eden Project\, a non-profit dedicated to serving veterans. She is a member of multiple veterans’ organizations\, including the American Legion and VFW\, and an active member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority\, Incorporated\, where she received the prestigious Zeal of Georgia Award. SUMMARY:Veterans Summit 2026
DESCRIPTION:ABOUT THIS PROGRAM\n\n\n\nMany entrepreneurs spend years “learning the hard way\,” but as a veteran\, you already have valuable skills—you just need a path to translate them into business. \n\n\n\nThis half-day summit bridges the gap between military leadership and commercial success by stripping away the fluff and focusing on the “intel” that actually moves the needle. We’ll dive deep into the mechanics of SDVOSB certifications\, navigate the current landscape of veteran-specific lending\, and reveal how to pivot battlefield agility into a scalable competitive advantage. Whether you are still in the “pre-launch” phase or ready to scale a multi-million dollar enterprise\, this session provides the strategy and connections necessary to win.   \n\n\n\nLEARN HOW TO:\n\n\n\n\nObtain a clear\, step-by-step checklist for obtaining and leveraging SDVOSB and VOSB certifications to win lucrative government set-aside contracts. \n\n\n\nUse a comprehensive directory of veteran-friendly lenders and SBA 7(a) resources tailored to your specific business stage.\n\n\n\nEstablish direct lines of communication with local mentors\, resource partners (VBOC/SBA)\, and a peer-support network of fellow veteran founders.\n\n\n\nUse a refined capability statement that translates military experience into a value proposition that resonates with civilian stakeholders and corporate partners.\n\n\n\n\nRegister Here:https://georgiasbdc.org/training-program/0852-001-gwi-veterans-summit-2026/

SUMMARY:Advancing The Line - Atlanta - CCK Law
DESCRIPTION:Join us for another great event!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin ATLVets for an evening of candid conversation and high-value networking with CCK Law and Brad Hennings. \n\n\n\nMost lawyers in this field learned the VA appeals system from the outside. I learned it from the inside first.I’m a Partner at Chisholm Chisholm & Kilpatrick (CCK Law)\, the largest veterans disability law firm in the United States. Since 2018\, I’ve represented veterans and their families on appeal at the Board of Veterans’ Appeals (BVA)\, the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims (CAVC)\, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. The firm handles claims and appeals at every level of the VA system\, nationwide\, and has recovered more than $1 billion for veterans and their families. I work here because the mission is real and the track record is not theoretical. Before CCK\, every role I held was inside that system:* Veterans Law Judge at the BVA (2014-2018)\, signing more than 3\,000 decisions* Judicial law clerk at the CAVC for the Honorable Alan G. Lance\, Sr.* Counsel in the BVA’s Office of Quality Review\, evaluating signed Board decisions and every dispositive Veterans Court decision* Associate Counsel at the BVA\, drafting decisions for Veterans Law JudgesWhen we brief an appeal\, I know how the people deciding it will read it. I spent years being one of them. \n\n\nOur Agenda: \n6:00 – 6:30 pm: Open Networking and Host comments \n6:45 pm- 7:30 pm:  Speaker highlight & fireside chat \n7:30 pm – 8:00 pm: Q & A and Open Networking \n**Business Casual Attire Required** \n\n\n\nOur Featured Speaker: Brad Hennings\n\n\n\n\n\nDistinguished Veterans Law CareerMr. Hennings has over 20 years of legal experience. Prior to his role at CCK\, he served as a Veterans Law Judge at the Board of Veterans’ Appeals (BVA)\, a position appointed by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs with presidential approval. In this prestigious capacity\, he adjudicated appeals and provided critical oversight in veterans’ claims decisions.\n\n\n\nEarlier in his career\, Mr. Hennings worked as Counsel in the Office of Quality Review at the BVA\, ensuring compliance and consistency in veterans’ decisions\, and as Associate Counsel at the BVA\, where he drafted appellate decisions for Veterans Law Judges.
